Tuesday racing

Great stuff from Stuart who got both races spot-on for a healthy profit

Alcade and Haajes both romped home to victory for a perfect day of racing on Tuesday.

Leicester

3.10 - Just a small field of five for this one but it is packed with quality for this level as the amount of last time out winners demonstrates. That said I feel that this one is likely to come down to three from the field.

Heliodor was having his ninth start last time out and looked vulnerable to some lightly raced sorts, but was actually unexposed over the trip and had run well on his previous try beyond 6f when fourth over 1m two starts back. His stamina was put to the test, but he travelled well throughout and stayed on well in the straight. He looks like he might have more in the bank and should go well today.

Le Grand Amour has shaped with promise on each of her first two starts and was suited by the step up in trip to 1m last time out, being by Montjeu. She was well on top running at her own tempo and raced clear in the final quarter mile. Having no problem with the ground, she is another who looks like there may be more to come.

My tip goes to Alcalde who won impressively on debut last time out. He was weak in the betting market and a bit keen early on, but he swept into the lead at the two furlong pole, responded well to pressure and crushed his rivals. The strength of the form is difficult to measure and it may not stand up to too much scrutiny but the style of the victory was very impressive. He is closely related to multiple winners and the family show versatility over ground conditions so he could well have a bright future ahead of him.

Folkestone

4.50
- Another small field for this handicap and this one looks to have a shortlist of two. Mango Music has shown patches of form so far with six wins to her name and a few runs at Listed class. She is effective in smaller fields over 5-6f so should give a good account of herself today. Last time out she held a narrow lead until headed at the half way point, she was still close up however and held every chance 2f from home, she then weakened in the final furlong to finish a slightly disappointing fourth.

I like the look of Haajes who is bang in form at the moment. Last time out he raced prominently throughout and found plenty under pressure when asked to go and win the race. Although it was only a modest contest he looks like the type that would be well up to defying the rise in the weights and winning again.
