Weekend Review

Two strong performances in the Guinness Premiership rugby, but limited success with the cricket

Cricket

Well I did say that the draw would trade a lot shorter during the first three days. That was an easy and profitable trade for us.

I then wanted to lay the draw as normally the pitch breaks, but as Australia batted slowly - without their usual 4 runs an over tempo - I restrained and accepted that the match would just be one strong trade.

Cricket is a fluid game and I adjusted my plans to what I could see in front of me. For those that did lay, they should have done short at around 1.15 which was a value play and very inexpensive.

It has been a bit of a curate's egg of a series. The series result we lost on. Brett Lee as top wicket taker was easy and we traded some matches nicely. However, it was a middling effort courtesy of Perth.

Rugby

We selected two matches, and thankfully both produced a good return.

We backed Sale at home and they duly defeated Quins. Prices were not great but that does not matter here. We won.

Saracens hosted Bath on Sunday and were under the pump from the beginning. As per my advice I laid Sarries as they were huge favourites at home and when Bath took the lead after the TMO awarded a try, the price shot out allowing me an easy profit.

Sarries came straight back and eventually won but the plan we went with worked, and won money.

This week a full preview of the SUPERBOWL and I will post an in-depth analysis of the coming England New Zealand five match one day series. I nattered to Dimitri Mascherenas the other night before the tour and have a few ideas for us to win some money. Overall a satisfactory weekend - one that should have had our accounts heading north!
