First Quarter Final

Australia v England, Saturday 15.00

England picked a poor side to play. Australia's Vickery has come back as captain which means Stevens, who had been scrummaging well, doesn't start. The front row was our one area of strength over Ozzy. I understand Farrell to block the inside channel but the back row - where the game is usually won - will be Ozzy's George Smith and Ricky Elson.

Take Australia straight-up or anywhere with a 12-point handicap near evens.

Second Quarter Final

New Zealand v France, Saturday 21.00

The only advantage France could have was home support, but because they came second in the group, they have to play the All Blacks in Cardiff. They got hammered at home and are likely to away.

I am just backing NZ straight-up and looking to buy total points around 45.

Third Quarter Final

South Africa v Fiji, Sunday 15.00

The vulnerable teams have already suffered the surprise knock-out - Wales at the hands of Fiji. This is the end for the south sea islanders. It's been their best world cup but they lack the structure and organisation to challenge a behemoth African pack.

The odds aren't much but Southa Africa should win comfortably. A handicap of around 15 should be taken for SA.

Fourth Quarter Final

The Pumas have proved themselves a class act. Their game is based on big, hard forwards, but what is impressive is the control Pichot, Hernandez and Contoponi give in the backs.

They should win this and we are backing them to do so. Ignore the handicaps.

A wrap-up: Our four semi-finalists should be the best four sides in the tournament.
