The UK Player Rankings are the definitive guide to the best hold'em players in the country. We take into account every open event with a buy-in of $1,000+, with points based on finishing position, number of entrants and buy-in.

This is the second rankings for 2008, based on all tournaments from 3 December 2007 to 3 February 2008.

The big news this month was unquestionably Julian Thew's unprecendented - and quite incredible - second GUKPT win in Brighton.

It's a result that takes him into the top ten of the 2008 Rankings and reinforces the view that he is the European player of the moment. If he continues being an unstoppable force, he is sure to surpass the 'Local Hero' accolade he picked up last year.

Another top name hitting stride is Mark Teltscher, who ponied up AUD$100,000 to enter the elite side event at the Aussie Millions, and spun it up to half a million dollars, second only to Howard Lederer.

Teltscher hangs on to third spot in the rankings, but more importantly has gained ground on the Devilfish.
