1 Golf part I
Hitting a golf ball a mile. Despite three pages of rules being drawn up (no hitting off a mountain, etc), Slim had the answer – he hit the ball on to a frozen lake and it travelled a mile-and-a-half.
2 Sugar cube
Training a fly to land on a certain sugar cube in jail. Slim quickly wet one of the cubes, watched the fly land on it and pocketed almost $20,000.
3 Horse racing
Beating a racehorse over 100 yards. Slim made the track 50 yards one way and 50 yards another. He’d always finish before the jockey had turned around.
4 Golf part II
Beating Evel Knievel at golf with a carpenter’s hammer. He practised for three months and had to traverse the whole golf course on his hands and knees.
5 Bowling
Betting a bowling champ he couldn’t bowl 70 blindfolded. He ended up with 43. Slim also reversed this one with a friend that he introduced as his driver – he scored 82 but Slim hadn’t told them that he was actually blind.
