2007 World Series of Poker
Tann well stacked

Willie Tann and other UK pros are nicely positioned as the WSOP Main Event moves into its third day

With a total prizepool of $60 million up for grabs in the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event, the numbers are being whittled down from the original 6,358, and a number of UK players are looking good.

The first place prize will total around $8.25 million, and although that is some way off after the conclusion of Day 2A, the money postions are approaching quickly.

Among the leaders is Kenny ‘The Kid’ Tran on 495,000 chips. Tran has already made a name for himself at this year’s WSOP with a fifth-place finish in the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event. Heading the pack on 570,000 is John Moonves.

Willie Tann, the famous UK pro and stalwart of the British game, sits within shouting distance of the leaders going into Day 3 with 282,000. Another Brit flying the flag is PokerStars pro John Duthie on 381,000, while 2002 main event runner-up, Julian Gardner, carries 130,000 chips into the third day.

Other Brits still involved, but severely short-stacked, are Marc Goodwin on 32,000, and Joe Beevers with 20,000. Beevers’ good friend and fellow Hendon Mobster Ross Boatman, sadly, failed to make the cut. Day 2A also marked the end of the Main Event for Bill Chen, Hoyt Corkins, Joe Hachem, Patrik Antonius, Barry Greenstein, Tony G, Paul Wasicka, Dan Harrington, Joe Sebok, and Vicky Coren.
