2007 World Series of Poker
WSOP Event #10

Chicago grad student Will Durkee goes large and wins the $2,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em

The winner of Event #10, the $2,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em championship was Will Durkee. The 24-year-old graduate student at Northwestern University in Chicago beat a field of 1,531 players.

Durkee received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, before graduating in 2005. While in college, Durkee excelled as both a student and an athlete. He was "Honorable Mention All-American" in NCAA Division I wrestling as well as an "Academic All-American." He holds a degree in economics.

This was his fourth time to cash at the World Series of Poker presented by Milwaukee's Best Light. He won over half-a-million dollars, with first place paying a handsome total of $566,916.

Phil Hellmuth, Jr. finished in 104th place in this event. That means he added to his margin as the all-time "Number of Lifetime WSOP Cashes" leader – now with 58. Men "the Master" Nguyen is second – currently with 54.

Todd Terry finished in second place. He also won a WSOP Circuit event at Harrah's Atlantic City in 2006.
