Nearly two weeks into this year's World Series of Poker, organisers have announced criteria for the official 2007 WSOP Player of the Year award.

The Milwaukee¹s Best Light Player of the Year award will be presented to the player accumulating the most points throughout the 2007 WSOP. Points are earned based upon finishing position in all open bracelet events with the exception of the Main Event and $50,000 HORSE Championship.

'We now have a triple crown at the WSOP ­ the Main Event and HORSE titles and the Player of the Year designation,' said Jeffrey Pollack, commissioner of the World Series of Poker.

'This award puts all poker players on a level playing field and underscores our belief that every bracelet event is important, regardless of field size, buy-in or variety of game.'

In addition to an official trophy, the Milwaukee¹s Best Light Player of the Year will receive entry to various WSOP competitions over the next year. The winner will receive $5,000 for travel and accommodations, plus buy-ins for the Main Events at the World Series of Poker Europe, a World Series of Poker Circuit Event of choice and the 2008 World Series of Poker.
